Location Las Vegas-Travellers ParadiseGeographical Information:
Location:There’s no place on earth like Las Vegas. Situated in the rainshadow area of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range in Southwestern United States.Las Vegas is located at the southern tip of Nevada in a broad flat basin surrounded by barren mountains. The city itself forms a huge oasis in this desert valley. Palm trees line the streets, green grass and flowering shrubs surround the homes. This illusion is maintained by the millions of gallons of water imported from nearby Lake Mead and the massive amounts of electricity provided by Boulder Dam.
The city offers an unlimited variety of entertainment, theme dining, Casino resorts, regional flavor and world-class cuisine for every appetite, shopping experiences for every budget, art exhibits that touch your soul and more. Venture beyond the bright lights and brilliance of Nevada’s exciting cities to discover the other side of Nevada.Las Vegas boasts more neon and lights than another other city; on the famed Las Vegas Strip, visitors can view a spirited pirate ship battle, an exploding volcano, or a spectacular laser light water show.Climate:The climate is extremely hot and dry. Most of the state only receives an average of four inches (10 cm) of rainfall per year, with more than 250 days of sunshine. Summers are quite hot with temperatures frequently exceeding 100 degrees F (40 C). In the winter months, daytime temperatures are usually a quite comfortable 60 - 70 deg. (15 - 20 C) with chilly nights. Early spring and late autumn are the best times to visit as the days are quite warm and the nights very pleasant.
General Information:
Transportation:
Las Vegas offers a multitude of travelling options. The highly recommended ones being the rental cars. They are relatively inexpensive (cheaper than cab rides all over town), offer you more freedom and choices, and are easy to park since all the major hotels offer free valet and self parking. However, several companies offer shuttles/ limousines from the airport to all the hotels and back again. You don't need to make a reservation in advance - just go outside from where you pick up your luggage and you'll see them cruising the driveway.Taxis in Las Vegas are common - you'll always be able to find them near the entrances of the hotels, at the airport, and cruising the tourist areas of town.<
Apart from these there are the monorails of which The Mandalay Bay to Excalibur monorail runs from the corner of The Strip and Tropicana next to Excalibur south to Mandalay Bay and then back again with a stop at Luxor along the way.Apart from this there is the Mirage to Treasure Island monorail, The Las Vegas Monorail, The MGM Grand to Bally's monorail, and the Monte Carlo to Bellagio monorail.Another alternative are the city buses in this town which are notoriously overcrowded and late. However, if you are on a strict budget and can't afford taxis or a rental car this is your only true alternative at this point as there are no other mass transit systems currently in place.
Las Vegas is served by McCarran International Airport - a clean, comfortable, and modern facility.Laws:
