A headache is a pain in the head with the pain being above the eyes or the ears, behind the head (occipital), or in the back of the upper neck. Headache, like chest pain or back ache, has many causes.
All headaches are considered primary headaches or secondary headaches. Primary headaches are not associated with other diseases. Examples of primary headaches are migraine headaches, tension headaches, and cluster headaches. Secondary headaches are caused by other diseases. The associated disease may be minor or major.
Here are some home remedies for Head Ache
Mix 1 tablespoon of milk and half teaspoon of ginger powder and put one or Dosage; two drops in each nostril twice a day.
With or without peppermint, eucalyptus or lavender oil: Have someone kneed across your shoulders and the back of the neck. Next, have them press on the base of your skull with their fingers, and slowly release.
Make a compress by putting 5 drops of lavender essential oil in cold (or warm) water. Swish around a soft cloth, then put it on your head or neck.
1/2 hour walk a day, or a brisk walk outdoors when you get a headache
Take a few drops of ghee (clarified butter) on your palm. Mix 3 or 4 pieces of saffron in it, and rub it for two minutes. The saffron does not dissolve in the ghee, but its qualities are absorbed. Remove saffron and put two drops of this ghee in each nostril. ยท Dosage: Follow procedure twice a day.
For some people with headache it's one, with some it's another. Experiment, but avoid extremes, which can make things worse! Try a cold pack wrapped in a couple layers of towel on your neck. One of my favourites is putting your hands in hot water, which seems to pull the pressure out of your head. It's also a good excuse to do the dishes before your headache gets much worse
Take clove, cinnamon and almond in equal quantities (around 1 teaspoon each) and grind together with a little water to make a paste. Apply paste on the forehead. A paste made of sandalwood powder can also be applied on the forehead.
Mix a quarter teaspoon of clove powder in one teaspoon of cinnamon oil. Apply mixture to the location of pain.
Hot cow milk is very good to drink.
Avoid fried foods, meat, sour and spicy foods and foods
Some sweets and milk products can be taken moderately with small quantities of nuts.
Yogurt should be avoided, especially at night.
Herbal remedy for headache: drink one or 2 cup of peppermint tea to help with the headache.
Squeeze one lemon, add one tablespoon of cinnamon, mix to get dough. Apply on forehead for half an hour.
Wrap a wet cloth around the neck.
Simple cooked vegetables without oil, vegetable juices and soup, fruits like apple, mango, grapes and fruit juices should be taken in ample quantities. Rice, salad and buttermilk are also good.
The patient should also try to keep the mind free from anxiety, anger, mental tension and worry.
Oil massage on the scalp also relieves tension and headache. Sesame oil, almond oil, mustard oil or ghee (clarified butter) can be used for massage.
Stir 1 teaspoon of lavender leaves to a cup of boiling water, cool and drink 3 times daily.
Chew ruta leaves (don't use if you're pregnant).
Drink a mixture of half a cup of strong black coffee with half a lemon juice.
Pour hot water in bowl (as hot as possible), deep hands in the bowl and take out. Repeat 10 times.
Drink fresh cabbage juice everyday to prevent headaches.
Heat 1 teaspoon of almond oil. When it cools down, put two drops in each nostril.
The natural urges (sneezing, passing stool and urine, hunger, thirst, sleep, breathing and yawning etc.) should not be suppressed.
Adequate rest should be taken and exposure to cold, heat and rain should be avoided.
Soak a cotton ball in arrack (forehead width), and put it on the forehead, lie with it for 30 minutes in a dark room.
Put onion slices on forehead and relax with your eyes closed for 20-30 minutes.
Natural treatment for headache: drink a lot of salvia tea to help with the headache.
Chinese medicine for headaches: Immerse 300gm mint leaves to half a liter of pure almonds oil. Pour into a bottle with a cork, shake and put in a dry chilly spot for 3 weeks. Strain and smear on the forehead and the neck when needed.
Pour 1 cup of boiling water on 1 teaspoon of Marjoram, wait for 5-10 minutes and drink. Repeat 3 times daily.
Cut a lime in half, rub on forehead.
Cook willow peel in water, drain and drink, can also soak a cloth and put on the forehead.
Home remedy for headache: boil honey and apple cider vinegar and inhale the steam.
Slice a peeled potato; tie tight with a cloth on forehead for 20 minutes.
Slice peeled cucumbers and put on forehead.
Blanch 5-7 rosemary leaves in a boiling cup of water, add honey, wait 3 minutes and drink.
Put 5 drops of ammonia in 1/2 glass of water and inhale the fumes.
Put 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in half a cup of water and drink up right away.
Take 2 teaspoons of honey with each meal.
Stir 1 tablespoon of honey in a very cold water cup and drink 1 cup every 3-4 hours.
